How it works
What happens after you call
A claim takes months and sometimes more than a year. These are the steps, and what the clinic does at each one.
- 01
Step 1: A short call
We ask who sent the notice, the date printed on it, and what condition keeps you from working or what the VA decided.
- 02
Step 2: An hour with a lawyer
Bring what you have. We read it with you and say whether the clinic can take the claim. If it can't, we name where to go.
- 03
Step 3: Records, requested for you
You sign release forms and we request your medical, work and service records, then check them for gaps.
- 04
Step 4: The claim or the appeal, filed
We write it, go over it with you, and you sign before it goes anywhere.
- 05
Step 5: The wait, with check-ins
We check your claim's status on a schedule and write to you in between, so silence from the agency doesn't mean silence from us.
- 06
Step 6: The exam or the hearing, rehearsed
We prepare you for the questions you're likely to hear and go with you where we can.
- 07
Step 7: The decision, and what comes after
We read it with you the day it arrives, and if there's a next step we'll tell you how long you have.
Your part
Three things only you can do
Open every envelope
Agencies mail the dates that matter. Give us the ones you can't face, and we'll read them.
Go to your appointments
A missed exam can end a claim. If you can't get there, tell us early and we'll ask to move it.
Tell us when something changes
A new diagnosis, a move, a new phone number. We can't update what we don't know.
