VA disability

VA compensation, built from your own record

Compensation is a monthly, tax-free payment for a condition your service caused or made worse. The VA rates each condition from zero to one hundred percent, in steps of ten.

A strong claim has three parts: a current diagnosis, something that happened in service, and a medical opinion that links them. Most denials come from a missing link, not from a missing condition.

We take VA claims at no charge to the veteran, from the first filing through a decision and any review of it.

Worth knowing

  • Filing an intent to file first can protect your start date for a year

  • Service records and statements from people who served with you count as evidence

  • Several ratings are combined, not added, so two fifty percent ratings don't make a hundred

The work

What we do on a VA claim

From the first page of the filing to the line the rating decision ends on.

  • Pull your records

We request your service file and VA treatment records together, because the claim sits where the two meet.

  • Write the link

We ask a doctor to say, in plain words, that the condition is at least as likely as not connected to service.

  • Prepare you for the exam

The C&P exam is short and the examiner writes a lot. We rehearse what to say about your worst day, not your best.

  • Read the decision with you

A rating decision lists what the VA decided and why. We go line by line and mark where an appeal could change it.

VA claim questions

Can I file for something that showed up years after I left?

Yes. Some conditions appear long after service, and the VA has presumptions for certain exposures. We look at what yours might be tied to.

What is a C&P exam?

A compensation and pension exam is an appointment where a VA or contract examiner records your condition. The notes become part of the decision, so preparing helps.

Do I need a lawyer to file?

No, but a gap in the evidence is easy to leave and hard to fix. We'll review a claim you've started, or write one with you.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Veterans pay no fee for VA claims at this clinic, and we tell you before any outside record charge is spent.
